Turku

Turku is situated on the banks of the River Aura and was previously the capital of Finland. The vessels will travel on a spectacular route through the archipelago, before arriving right in the middle of the city. The Tall Ships Races 2024 will mark the sixth time that the Host Port city has welcomed The Tall Ships Races since 1996.

In July 2024, Turku will be one of the six host ports of the Baltic Sea Tall Ships Races. During this event, large sailing ships will arrive in River Aura from Thursday to Sunday, 18-21 July 2024. The event area in the lower reaches of River Aura will be opened to the public on Tuesday, July 16th – two days before the official opening ceremonies of the event.

This worldwide sailing competition for tall ships is held in the Baltic Sea every four years. Over 60 ships have already registered to arrive in Turku, and ships have until May to register for the event.

The event is expected to attract a large audience once again. In addition to the River Aura area, The Tall Ships Races will also be present in the centre of Turku. As per tradition, there will be crew competitions and a parade. But this year, there will also be a new two-day music event called Slot Festival. Tickets for the festival are available at Lippupiste.

The Tall Ships Races Turku 2024 invites not only the tall ships and their crews but also the audience to come and join the excitement!
